Anyone can play

  • Pick up and play

Designed to ease a child, a parent, a grandparent, or anyone into using a controller, actions are as simple as holding a button and tapping. More seasoned players can learn advanced moves, like dodging and luring creatures away.

  • Set your own pace

Plants and creatures only change as you move through areas, so there's no pressure to be efficient. There's plenty to enjoy, even just watching the waves crash onto the shore.

Bring two friends along!

A family of three

Three of you leave home together. Each of you has your own reason for going, and a different family behind you. On the road, you make a new one together.

Online or offline

Each of you can be in the same room or across the world, and still travel the same road. Join and leave freely. Turn up partway and you can watch until a seat is open.

Take all the time you like.

What you'll do

  • Avoid attacks

Angry creatures don't know any better, so they'll attack you when you get close. Each has their own patterns, and there's time to get out of the way.

  • Heal together

Healing fills a harmony bar you all share. Use combo moves, or heal at the same time, to calm creatures quicker. Healing this way also brings everyone closer.

  • Play with the elements

Every creature has one of five elements, and your instrument plays the element of the friend you've bonded with. The world reacts to each element in its own way, which you can use to solve puzzles.

  • Discover what lives here

Bowing toward a creature or a plant heals it and records it in your World Dex. The more you understand a place, the more it flourishes.

  • Leave offerings

Visit a spirit house to give alms from what you've gathered. Make tea for friends. Burn incense for the creatures that faded here, and each one is remembered by name. Leave food out, and the land is all the better for it.

  • Entrust a friend to a place

You can entrust a friend to a place at a spirit house. It will watch over that area, and you'll run into it on your travels there.

  • Learn what each friend likes

Each friend has its own personality. For example, some like being called on, and others like sharing tea. Do what it likes and it will bond with you quicker.

  • Help the people you meet

People you meet have requests. Help them enough and they will stand by you the rest of the way, or watch over a spirit house for you. Choose who you station. Some keep their word better than others.

  • Decorate the Inner Garden

Meditate to reach the Inner Garden, a quiet space you can share with others. Rest, and decorate it until it feels like a spiritual home. Bonded friends talk to you here, and give keepsakes when they're happy.
